Stephen Northup House : ウィキペディア英語版 | Stephen Northup House
The Stephen Northup House (also known as the "Stephen Northrup House") is a historic house at 99 Featherbed Lane in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.〔The Stephen Northrup House is actually the Stephen Northup House (no "r") and appears to be improperly recorded in the Register of Historic Places. Additionally, the house is listed as built in 1712 by Stephen Northup Jr. who is actually most likely the second owner resident on this property. Stephen Northup (Northup Jr.'s father) came to America in 1650 building a home on this land in 1660. Due to the destruction during King Phillips War, there is speculation about whether the original Northup home survived the local Native American attacks which burned many settlers properties to the ground. However, extensive renovation and property study indicates the southwestern portion of the home is original to the 1660 building standards with additions made around 1712 and 1850. The present home may have portions of its current form rooted in the year 1660. 〕 ==History == The original house on the site may have been built in 1660 with an addition around 1712 most likely completed by Stephen Northup Jr. The original building may have burned during King Philip's War, which destroyed most of the houses in the state in the 1670s.〔http://my02818.com/articles/2009/07/31/people/doc4a7105008f0a4138729342.txt〕 Later owners made additions to the structure. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. The house is owned by the Bogue family. They have added two sizable additions to the house and have restored all of the interior.
